Uri Geller
On Saturday (29th October) I was invited to a conversation with Uri Geller - it was very interesting.
No matter your opinion of Uri’s works and claims, he has had an impressive career . Whilst it’s not appropriate to share the full details of this conversation, there was something he said which I feel I can share.
He was talking about his early TV appearances when he invited people “at home” to hold broken watches, spoons and forks so they could be involved in the demonstration he was about to give. In many ways this was the birth of interactive television.
Many people reported that cutlery bent and broken time-pieces started to work after Uri had sent the “command”, “work” or “bend”.
Uri said that at that time he believed that he was the source of whatever “energy” was causing these effects. He realised as he matured in his thinking he realised that what was happening was that the viewers own belief in the possibility of these phenomena which caused the effect.
In essence, and these are my words, he was a catalyst, the viewers were the source of the power.
For me this is an important truth.
We can all be blinded to our own power; buy into our own limitations. The path of the Magician is surely one of discovering your power and potential.

November’s Moot
Ogham is an early Medieval alphabet general found on stone monuments in the “Celtic” Provinces.
The Ogham letters exist as a series of horizontal or vertical marks.
Strictly speaking, the word ogham refers only to the form of letters or script, while the letters themselves are known collectively as the Beith-luis-nin after the letter names of the first letters (in the same manner as the modern "Alphabet" deriving from the Greek Alpha and Beta).
There are two main schools of thought among scholars as to the motivation for the creation of ogham. Some have suggested that ogham was first created as a cryptic alphabet, designed by the Irish so as not to be understood by those with a knowledge of the Latin alphabet.
In this school of thought, it is asserted that the alphabet was created by Irish scholars or druids for political, military or religious reasons to provide a secret means of communication in opposition to the authorities of Roman Britain.
The second main school of thought is that ogham was invented by the first Christian communities in early Ireland, out of a desire to have a unique alphabet for writing short messages and inscriptions in the Irish language.
Some have made much of the idea that ogham is a “tree alphabet”; one that is directly linked to lunar months and what is claimed to be linked to ‘Celtic Astrology”.
I have written about this on my Emrys Y Dewin Blog and if it interests you, you can read the specific article here.
In this Moot we will explore some of these ideas, looking at the history and myth-tory of the Ogham Alphabet.
As always the Zoom link will be sen to subscribers of this newsletter on the Friday of the Moot.
Hope to see you there.
Website and Community Membership
As you are no doubt aware you can find our community pages on the Elyn Bres website
As part of our Samhain review of the last season, we’re looking to make some changes to the content and layout of the website.
We’re aiming to make it easier to join the FREE and the SUBSCRIPTION membership.
One of the things I am keen to do is to move away from Facebook. I think that the platform can be quite toxic and so we’re hoping to create a community of supportive, positive and magical folk on our independent platform.
Those who are already members of the community will have had a glimpse of what we’re looking to create. Over the next couple of months we’re hoping to extend what we can offer and add more content.
Be great to see you there….
Have a great November
