Many of you will have performed the magic ritual of setting New Year's resolutions and ambitions. This activity is a ritual, even though most of us tend to see it as such. You are setting intentions; your plans and ambitions are clearly stated, even if they may be said over the last mince pies and a glass of wine (other libations available).
Many of you will have lighted candles or the electric-battery-fairy-light equivalents without realising that this, too, is a magical act.
I thought it might be interesting to start the New Year by looking at Candle Magick, Which is often stated as the “simplest” magickal operation.

The Enchantment of Candle Magic: Illuminating Your Intentions
Throughout history, candles have illuminated the darkness, both literally and metaphorically. Close your eyes and meditate, imagining yourself already experiencing the desired outcome. Engage your senses—what does it feel like? What do you see, hear, and smell?
