What’s this Moot About?
Nearly ALL magickal practices have something to say about “spell casting”.
The bringing about of “change in accordance with will” is often seen as the pinnacle of magical work and, I feel, is one of the most misunderstood aspects of practical magick.
We are surrounded by media, film and TV images which portray magick in a very distorted way. Unfortunately, there are those within the magical movement who do little to challenge some of this sugary and fanciful nonsense and encourage others to embrace approaches that are little more than ‘making wishes’.
“Magick is an art; using reality and the world as its canvas.” - Dacha Avelin
In this Moot we will take a deep dive into what we can call “practical magick” looking at the art of “spell casting” and what it really is all about.
“Every spell is a journey.” - Lawren Leo,
We will explore the idea of “change in accordance with will” as being something more than empty “wand waving” and consider the nature of “real magick”.
We look at some of the ethical considerations about the use of magick.
“An experienced Witch takes magickal action based on inspiration, NOT desperation.”― Dacha Avelin
And why we may choose to use magick in the first place.
“The most potent, most effective magick you can indeed cast is upon yourself to awaken yourself, heal, and grow in wisdom.”― Mat Auryn,
Magick is a practice and a way of looking at the world and your place within it. It is something that cannot be divorced from the act of everyday living.
“You cast spells every day. Your makeup is glamour magic. Hiding and highlighting. The clothes you pick out to make your legs look longer, and your waist smaller. The red you wear for confidence; the black when you’re sad, the blue for clarity. Your favourite bra. Your lucky socks. The way you take an hour on your hair. It’s a ritual. It’s never just about clothes, makeup, or perfectly messy buns. It’s about magic.” ― Moïra Fowley-Doyle,
During the hour or so we spend together on this moot, we’ll explore some philosophical and practical ways in which you can bring ‘magick” into your life.
Hope you will be able to join us.
